Health & Safety/Project Supervisor Design Process

The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013 define responsibilities for Homeowners / Contractors and Project Supervisors in relation to construction works and stipulate the nomination of a Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and a Project Supervisor Construction Process (PSCP).

Typically the Engineer or Architect is appointed as Project Supervisor Design Process with the Contractor appointed as the Project Supervisor Construction Stage. Kieran J Barry & Associates Ltd can act as Project Supervisor Design Process and engage with the Health & Safety Authority and co-ordinate the work of all designers in relation to your project.

As the PSDP our responsibilities would include the following:

Identify potential safety issues arising from the design or from project management aspects of the project
  • Reduce risks and eliminate hazards where possible
  • Document and communicate necessary control measures or outstanding risks to the PSCS
  • Coordinate work of all designers on the project
  • Produce A Safety and Health plan (for projects with significant risks or those over 30 working days or 500 person days in duration)
  • Prepare a Safety File to be delivered to the client on completion of works.
